Dedicated server :- Disadvantages
Dedicated servers do not have many of the so called disadvantages but there is one which cannot be neglected or in other words the client will have to consider this disadvantage also when the client considers the advantages and is looking to have a dedicated server to host the clients site.As the name suggests and we to know that the dedicated server is provided to one single client and the dedicated server only belongs to the client unlike the shared and the vps servers which are provided to a number of clients.This means that the dedicated server has only one account holder whereas the shared and the vps servers have a number of account holders.This is considered to be a advantage in the dedicated server hosting but this is where the disadvantage of the dedicated server is also noticed.As the shared and the vps servers have many account holders the cost of the server is paid by all the clients having an account on these servers but as there is only one account holder on a dedicated server the entire cost of the dedicated server is to be paid by the client and this is considered to be the biggest disadvantage of a dedicated server.
As the dedicated server is provided to the client by the web hosting company the company has to see to it that the it earns a good amount of profit from the client so that the it continues working as the it provides the client with the service and after providing the client with the server the company has to provide the client with the support so that the client’s server keeps on working and they can also help the client if there is a problem with the server.They are the ones helping the client if the client has any issues related to the server.So the web hosting provider also plays a very important role in deciding the cost of the server as the web hosting provider knows about the actual cost of the server and not the client.The dedicated server is kept in the data center and the data center provides the web hosting provider with the server so the server is indirectly given to the client through a web hosting provider and so the relationship of the web hosting provider and the server is data center is also important.
As dedicated server is kept in the data center the data center has a good security so that the private data is secured and it has a continuous electricity supply and also trained staff of engineers for 24x7x365 days a year.Due to this reason the data center has to have a good amount of money so that it can have these services all the time and the money is to given to them by the clients as the service is provided to them by the data center.Also,the dedicated servers physically exists so it requires space in the data center and due to this reason the original cost of the server is quite high and this is the reason why the dedicated servers are costly because the cost of the rack space and the bandwidth used by the dedicated server of the client is also taken by the client.Because of all these reasons the cost of the dedicated server is high and as there are many servers in a data center the owner of the data center has to invest a lot of money and also the owner has to make up the cost as soon as possible and this is also the reason for the high cost of the dedicated server.
